Apple IIci Cache Card

This card when installed in the custom 96-pin PDS (Processor Direct Slot) of a Macintosh IIci adds 32 KB of SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) running at 25 nanoseconds to speed operations by 5-30% depending on the task.

When introduced in August 1990 the card was an optional component that cost $399 (US). From September 1st, 1991 until the end of the Macintosh IIci's life span Apple began including the card as standard for no additional cost.

The card, about the size of a PCI card has only 4 SRAM ICs to make up the 32 KB cache memory, 1 controller IC and three tag SRAM chips.

The sparsely populated card (compaired to your average card in 1990) is nicely laid out with text next to all the major components. Something Apple did with many of their circut boards of the time.
