The front of the computer shares the same design as its 500 series brethren.

Here you can see the name plate with Apple logo.

An internal 2x SCSI CD-ROM drive comes standard.

Like other 500 series models, the Performa 580CD has an internal 8-bit microphone for recording.

Here you can see the 33 MHz Motorola 68LC040 processor. The LC designation refers to the lack of a floating point unit (FPU).

Here you can see the model number (M3872) and other regulatory information.

These two holes on the back of the computer allow for adjustment of the screen position.

The rear of the machine has ADB, serial, SCSI and audio ports. The 4 plates on the back are removable to allow installed expansion cards space for external connectors. Such as Ethernet ports.

With the back plastic panel removed, one can see the hard drive and serial number.

The machine supports a single IDE hard drive. Pervious models include faster (and more expensive) SCSI hard drives.

With the hard drive remove you can see the standard 40-pin IDE cable.
